911 DIALING EMERGENCY SERVICE
Traditional 911 and Enhanced 911 (E911) services are features available on your traditional phone line that directly sends your call to the nearest emergency response centre. In addition, E911 service automatically identifies the calling party’s telephone number to its physical address. In essence, the call is routed to emergency personnel at Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) with information on the caller’s line and registered address, allowing them to quickly access the location of the emergency without the person in crisis having to provide it.
Times Telecom offers through a third party a form of 911 Emergency Service that is similar to traditional 911 and enhanced 911 (E911) but has certain significant differences and limitations.
Whenever there is an emergency and you dial 911, Times Telecom will connect your call to the general emergency services dispatcher instead of your closest emergency response system. The operator will confirm the address and phone number assigned to your Times Telecom account and then will contact an emergency center near you to dispatch help. There is a chance the operator may not be able to collect your contact information. Make sure you provide it during your emergency call in order for them to reach you quickly. Do not disconnect the call unless told directly by the operator. Otherwise, redial 911 again.
IMPORTANT: Inform any residents, guests and other persons who visit or reside within the physical address registered to your broadband phone of the differences and limitations between 911 dialing and traditional 911 or E911.
